Fixing the SEO Foundation for a Health Author

SEO implementation case | Robert James | Checkpoint: October 1, 2026

A health author and speaker needed her topic pages to support a clearer path to a related book. During the first three weeks of a 90-day SEO and generative engine optimization (GEO) engagement, I corrected shared page defects, added a relevant internal link, and delivered a search and content planning pack. This case covers implementation through October 1, 2026.

Client: Health author and speaker

Scope: Eight topic pages, internal links, and a starter pack

Period: First three weeks of a 90-day engagement, through October 1, 2026

Status: Implementation account through October 1; engagement ongoing

The starting problem

Several topic pages were absent from Google's index. Live URL tests showed that the excluded pages could be reached without a current crawl or indexing block. That did not explain why Google had not indexed them, but it helped separate technical access from Google's indexing decisions.

The diagnosis

The topic pages shared repeatable defects: page titles used H2 instead of H1, descriptions were not page-specific, and a breadcrumb led to a broken destination. The book page also lacked a contextual route to the central topic page. Separately, the analytics property supplied for the author contained another site's traffic, so it could not support a reliable project baseline.

What I changed

I changed the shared page-title structure from H2 to H1, removed the broken breadcrumb, and created unique meta descriptions through a CMS field connected to the topic pages. Before the link change, the book page lacked a contextual route to the central topic page. I added that connection so the book page could direct readers to the relevant subject explanation. I also delivered a search and content starter pack with a quick-start guide.

The implementation check

My project account records an October 1 Screaming Frog recrawl of all eight topic pages: HTTP 200, crawlable and indexable, with H1s, unique meta descriptions, and self-referencing canonicals. It also records removal of the broken breadcrumb, no 4xx errors in the checked crawl, and an inlinks export confirming the added connection to the central topic page.

What the change establishes

The implementation addressed the shared page defects and the missing internal connection. Crawlability and indexability describe technical page state; Google indexing and search visibility require separate checks. AI citations and book demand also remain outcomes to measure.

The next phase at the October 1 checkpoint

The remaining work at this checkpoint was to align book and topic-page roles, establish a repeatable AI visibility baseline, obtain the correct analytics access, and monitor Google indexing. The SEO implementation provides a clearer content foundation for that work; it is not evidence of a GEO visibility lift.
